The Woe of Knowledge

The more I learn about beer and the beer making process the more aware I have become to the commercial advertising of the good stuff. I realized this suddenly and without warning when I was driving down Veterans Highway in New Orleans last weekend and noticed a staple local restaurant. However, upon reading the location’s subtitle the big red warning lights went off in my head screaming “Warning! Warning! Oxymoron!”

The location: Lager’s: International Ale House

Yeah. Take that in for a second. I’ve eaten here before and the grub and brew is good, but never before have I realized the blatant oxymoron in the name. For those who may not be aware and ale and a lager are essentially the red and white wines of the beer world and are made from two distinctly separate yeast types with completely different brewing processes.

Knowledge: Both powerful and annoying. For more information see: Lager and Ale.
